The Sparrow’s Nest
Creating safe, sacred spaces of rest and care; a place of abiding.
Why The Sparrow’s Nest?
“What is the price of five sparrows — two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”
Luke 12:6-7
I sat in a local park, holding a feather between my fingers and these words on my mind, “Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?…”
I had graduated from the University of Florida months earlier and I was still unemployed. I thought I landed a dream job when I got the call. I didn’t get it.
As I sat in the park, I looked down and there at my feet was a feather. I sensed God telling me, “pick it up.” As soon as I held it in my fingers, the words from Matthew 6 came to mind. I instantly felt God’s care, faithfulness and provision. Over the years, birds and feathers bring Truths about God to mind.
The Sparrow’s Nest comes from my heart for others to notice and experience God in their lives. Whether it is through sitting in spiritual direction, time spent in a spiritual practice, or during a visit to my home, it’s my desire that others find themselves in a sacred, safe place of rest and care where they know they are cared for, valued and loved — an abiding place.
