a place of abiding
The Sparrow’s Nest
Creating safe, sacred spaces of rest and care; a place of abiding.
Intentionally giving our attention to God is both the beginning and end goal of spiritual direction. We are not seeking change per se. We are seeking God, seeking fuller communion with the Holy Spirit and seeking to trust God for and in whatever unfolds. We want to be aware of God’s presence with us, dwell more closely with God, and explore what it means to abide….
The essence of spiritual direction, then, is this deepening love and communion with God.”

“When I first met Aileen, I knew little about the spiritual direction ministry. I was keenly interested in how God shapes us in Christlikeness and how spiritual direction fits into the change process. Following my first meeting with Aileen, I developed a strong appreciation for spiritual direction and its role in spiritual transformation.”
“Our sessions helped me increase my spiritual awareness of God and His presence in the ordinary circumstances of life. Reflection, art, prayer, and other activities helped me become more aware of His presence and love for me, which spilled over into my daily routine. I became more aware of His voice and of the areas where I needed to change.
I learned how to intentionally reflect on God’s movement in my life, which frequently led to worship, giving me a more willing heart to follow Jesus, even in difficult situations, along with confidence and courage to explore the deeper questions in my heart.” – Janey
“The GRIP-Birkman enhanced my self-awareness in my writing and my interactions with my team at work. It enabled me to articulate what I need from my team and what I also contribute. It made me conscious of my strengths as well as the challenges that accompany them, allowing me to recognize when they arise at work.”
“I recommend any leader or minister work with Aileen, as she will patiently and graciously guide them through the process, ensuring their understanding. She is willing to answer any questions and recommend further studies if the client wants to learn more.” – Grace
“The Grip-Birkman helped me to learn more about who God created me to be as well as how He intentionally desires to be intimately involved in every aspect of my life as an individual in order to impact the body of Christ through my spiritual strengths, giftings, and preferences.
I would highly recommend taking the Grip-Birkman if you would like to have a greater awareness of yourself and how you can maximize the gifts God has given you to have a lasting impact on your team and on the work God has entrusted you with.” – Daysi
